Working late

Working late. Although it may be cold dark and frosty outside its still magical and I am warm and cosy working in my studio (Well my shed really) but it is a nice one.
At the back of my shed is the chicken house where my 12 Cochin's live. Cocky (Original I know) and his 11 hens. I expect they were all tucked up asleep when I took this picture.

So much to do but feeling pleased

Dreaming and playing. I have been busy making things. The pictures are of two vintage corsages, one is for the wrist on a satin bracelet. I have used vintage flowers, old lace and bits of vintage jewellery. You may have necklaces that are broken, or odd earings. Every little scrap is beautiful and it is such fun to be creative and make something unique.

Getting ready for Yule

Lace and glitter, beads and buttons, everywhere.
Making corsage gifts
I do love making and playing

Christmas is nearly here

Time to get the precious memories of Christmas out of the loft
The Christmas peter rabbit plate was a gift from my niece many years ago

My Goodness

What a magical day,

Full of real values, real talent and real friendship.
Cheryl and I were absolutely overwhelmed with how successful the fair has been and how wonderful all the support we received from family and friends old and new.
We were amazed at how many of you came to see us at the fair and spent your money on our wonderful finds, exciting new ideas and different gorgeous homemade items.
Everything was made with love and a passion for what we do and you obviously appreciated it from your presence and purchases.
The rooms looked so lovely and the tables stunning.
The atmosphere was everything we strived for and much much more. The friendship, goodwill and excitement that existed at the Friends Meeting House that day made us both so happy.

If you missed the fair please keep visiting the Homespun and Vintage blog where we will be posting lots of pictures of the fair and pictures of all the homespun items we had for sale. That way you will still be able to order them if you wish.

So a really big thank you to everyone, we are already planning for our Spring Fair.

Exciting Times - Homespun and Vintage Fair

This is a very exciting time for me. Together with my lovely friend Cheryl-Ann, we are organising our very own Homespun and Vintage Fair. This has been a dream of ours for so long and we hope to turn the Friends Meeting House lovely venue in Pickering North Yorkshire, into an informal, cosy setting fora unique little Vintage Fair, with that “Homespun” atmosphere. Please have a peep at our flyer and follow our blog (Opposite) If you can manage to come we would love to see you x.
I will post more information about the fair later.

Starting Out

Hi there,

This is all very new to me. I set up the Scented Garden blog on a beautiful June morning, but did not know where to go from there. It is now a very Autumn, chilly damp day and I feel I know a little more about creating a blog. I recently visited my very good friend Andrea who gave me a lesson, which all seemed quite straight forward in her cosy room on the computer, however!!

Well, I will do my best, so if you come across my blog, it may look a bit strange, or back to front, but please be patient and visit me again, I would love to hear from you.

I am a floral designer and I work with both fresh and faux flowers. I am also a textile and vintage fanatic so I am always sewing and collecting vintage fabrics, I love the colours and the older the better. The fabrics quite often work their way in to my floral work along with old buttons and beads and sparkly things.
